For those who weren't able to make it, last Thursday we held an information night for MA '07.
We were joined by Phill who made the trek down from Maitland to share with us more about what's been happening around the traps, as well as how things are going post mission (Praise God for the fact that contacts are still being followed up through Bible reading, coming along to church or joining a Bible Study group!)
We also had a lot of newcomers along - most of whom are likely to partner with us to be part of MA '07. We look forward to seeing them at Training Day 1!!!
Anyway, I thought I'd share with you some verses that give us an insight into Paul's missionary strategy. Its from Romans 15:18-20....
18: I will not venture to speak of anything except what Christ has accomplished through me in leading the Gentiles to obey God by what I have said and done—
19: by the power of signs and miracles, through the power of the Spirit. So from Jerusalem all the way around to Illyricum, I have fully proclaimed the gospel of Christ.
20: It has always been my ambition to preach the gospel where Christ was not known, so that I would not be building on someone else's foundation
These verses are a great reminder about why we do mission and why we go to Maitland......Paul speaks about Christ so that the Gentiles will obey God - he's not interested in piling up numbers of converts....he wants to see obedience to the True and Living God!
Paul also wants to preach the gospel where it is not known....he does this through word and through action (v18b)
